I had one of the best weekends ever, in a long time. I went for the F1 Rocks concert on Sat night. And who performed? Black Eyed Peas (BEP) and ..........BEYONCE! I was so excited when I found out she was performing here and managed to convince Maya to come along with me. Tickets were a bit steep, $200 but I didn't care cos it's Beyonce. I worship her. LOL!

One week prior to her peformance, I kept going on and on about how hot she was to my classes. And watching her on the VMAs did not help cos her performance of Single Ladies was just mind blowing. And I kept singing in class, and getting all excited. In one of my class, the boys told me they dont think she is hot. Im like...Are you guys freaking insane? Or do you bat for the other team? LOL! They were like...Ms Khai, you are crazy! Hahahahahaha

And she did not disappoint on Sat night. When I reached Fort Canning at about 8-ish, there was a really cool dj spinning, DJ Haviana Brown from Australia, this hot blonde chick who was in some swimming costume glitter outfit and she was spinning some pretty cool old school hip hop plus some newer ones. Then at 9pm, BEP came on. They played their hit singles like Pump It, Dont Phunk with my heart, Where is the Love, and of course, Boom Boom Pow. Fergie is hot, she wore some skimpy black leather outfit, and she looks and sounds good. Her voice was surprising strong. No cracks at all. Was jumping and dancing and screaming like a lunatic. I was so bloody wet from my own sweat. Think we lost 1 kg worth of water weight from the sweating.

And then we had a 2 hr break before Beyonce came on. And we managed to get into the VIP area! Cos Maya's aunt, who's a broadcast journalist with CNA wanted to interview us for the concert so we got into the VIP lounge area, snagged some free Haagen Daz ice cream, got interviewed, and was on the live telecast of the 11pm news on CNA. Highly exciting. It's fun being in the spotlight. LOL! But people in the VIP area were seriously dull. They were not even dancing! More like standing around and looking cool. Lynn and I didnt care we were still dancing like like crazy while we ate our ice creams. :)

And then at midnight, Beyonce came on!!! I was so excited!! And she came with such a grand entrance! Bloody divalicious. She was in a gold outfit, with a huge bow on her ass, and man, did she look hot. And then she started singing and the whole crowd, all 10 000 of us went berserk! She is such a performer. She doesnt just sing. She sings, dances, flirts with the audience, talks to us, changes costumes. Think she had 4 or 5 costume changes. And her dancing is just amazing. She sang a lot of her hits, Irreplaceable (She didnt even have to sing the damn song. The crowd was just belting out the song. She was majorly impressed.), Halo, If I were a Boy, Video Call, Dangerously In Love, Nasty Girl, and she also sang some of her old songs with Destiny's Child like Say My Name, Jumpin Jumpin (Maya and I of course went crazy cos thats our club anthem usually just before we go clubbing back in uni) and Bootylicious. And of course...SINGLE LADIES!! The best man. I was hoarse from the screaming, I swear. The crowd was great, a lot of jostling and pushing, and groin pushing (which I was not impressed by), and singing and dancing, and crazy photo taking.

I had the best time. Concert only ended at 130am after which Lynn, Maya and I went for drinks at Starbucks before heading home. Sigh...Beyonce is the bomb. She so needs to do a full length concert here.

Anyway, here are the pics taken...Enjoy!

It has been a good month of fasting. Lost some weight, ate good food, practiced a lot of self discipline, well, I tried really hard and now it has ended.

Ramadhan and Syawal this year was kind of a bitter sweet thing for me. I always felt a little nostalgia when I think back of Ramdhan and Syawal last year. I remember, having only Anri and Foiza with me for Ramadhan, and how we used to break every single fast together at each other's place. We would all cook one dish each, and after breaking of fast, we would do our mass prayers together, amidst lots of laughter and fun, and then we would sit back and eat our sticky date pudding or butterscotch pudding or carrot cake and iced fruit cocktail, and watching rented dvds together, before we would walk back home to our respective places. And I remember how we used to sleep over each other's place during Ramadhan, and do the most random things at nights, like taking stupid pictures in the ugliest pjs, and laughing our heads off, and having sahur together....:) I really miss the girls. Those were really good memories for me.

And for Syawal, I remembered the multiple trips we took to Mirabooka, and bought like a gazillion kilos of meat and chicken to cook as we invited all our friends in Perth. :) We congregated at my place, and made cookies together, and watched So you think you can dance America as we baked, and screeched at our favourite dancers. I remembered the cooking lists we made, and I ended up making sambal goreng and sayur lodeh, Anri made beef rendang and Foiza made chicken briyani.

And on Eid itself, we dressed up in our best garb, and invited our closest friends to spend the day with us cos we didnt have our families with us. Those people were my family when I was in Australia for a whole year last year. And even though it wasn't a conventional Hari Raya, I still loved it cos I was with people who loved me and cared for me very much. I miss those times....I miss my friends in Perth, and I miss being there.

But there were moments of sadness when I was all alone in Australia. I remembered, on Hari Raya eve, as I was making my sambal goreng at night, and while waiting for it to simmer, I suddenly felt a sense of loss and nostalgia. Cos Hari Raya eve in Singapore is always spent breaking fast with my whole family, amidst laughter and chaos as we hang the new curtains and change to new bedsheets, and listening to the takbir Hari Raya. But I was all alone in my apartment cos Mark had to work I recalled, and Foiza was at home doing her briyani and Anri was at home doing her rendang, so I was left alone. And I recalled calling mom, and talking to her, asking her what everyone else was doing, and I remembered having to choke back my tears cos I was so lonely.

And Hari Raya morning was the saddest for me, cos I had no takbir to wake up to, no lontong and ketupat ready for me, and no family there.

So this year, I really savoured every moment of Ramdhan and Syawal. The fasting, breaking fast with my family, spring cleaning for Hari Raya, scrubbing my windows, cleaning the wardrobes, vacuuming, mopping, hanging the curtains, changing the bedsheets, baking cookies....And on Syawal eve, I really appreciated the singing of the takbir, and gave me a sense of calmness and peace. :)

So, yeah, bitter sweet for me.

Having said all that, I wish everyone a very Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin. :) Hope you guys had as great a time as I did. :)

And here are the pictures of this year's Eid.

Has been forever! Tells you the state of craziness in school right now, but, on the brighter side of things, the term break is coming! Finally. Bloody tiring term and it's almost over.
We celebrated Teachers Day last Mon. And I had a blast. I always enjoy Teachers Day cos I get the best and most random gifts from my babies. This year, I got a lot of home made gifts, all of which came from the heart. I received so many cards, of different colours and shapes, and each and everyone of those cards made me laugh, and smile. :) One of my 4NA boys made me a chanel handbag card. All in pink, full of sequins. Bloody amazing. Another one made me a door hanger, all in bright pink and red. Beautiful. And another made me a Teachers Report card. :) I think I got about 20 cards in all, and I hung everyone of them on my display board in my class. :)
Me and Chan, at the parade square with our class. Thats my class T shirt. Yes, its in pink! The whole class wanted it in pink cos they said, when everyone looks at them, the will know that Im their form teacher straight away. LOL! And did we get a lot of attention when we first wore the T shirts.
And my 4 of my class babies actually put up a performance for me. They played the guitar, and drums and sang to Sum 41's 'Pieces'. And it was so cool. At the end of the performance, when they were still on stage, they were like, 'Ms Khai, where are you?' And I waved and gave them a flying kiss. And they dedicated the performance to me. :) My babies...:) So much heart.
And then, I went for m Teachers Day dinner where I was hosting the event with Vidhu at Orchard Hotel. And did we have a ball. No script, no nothing. Just the programme, and a gist of the games that were going to be played and man, did we ham it up. :) I love being on stage, I get a high from it. LOL! My colleagues said Im in the wrong profession. Hahahahahaha. But it was a a hell of a lot of fun. Ate, played games, laughed like crazy. :) And of course, dressed up. The theme was masquerade and we all had to wear a mask. I wore a really beautiful shimmery purple mask. Very pretty. The masklah, not me.
And on Teachers Day itself, since it was a school holiday, I went to reward myself by going for a 4 hr spa. 2 hrs facial, 2 hrs scrub and massage. Shiok. Best way to celebrate Teachers Day.
So last day of school tomorrow before the term break. Cant wait. I need to rejuvenate myself.
Me in my mask.
