Another cafe which we went to was Three Bags Full. This cafe is located in an abandoned warehouse, round the corner of Melbourne Uni. Lots of uni kids and even working professionals. I loved it here. Very cool and indie cafe. I had the latte (I always have lattes in new cafes. Gauge and compare against whatever else I have had.), french toast again (this was one was better than Seven Seeds), shared a croissant and a brioche with Nad and Shams. This place was amazing. Uber cool. And uber yummy. :)
Then on my second last night there, we went to a fine dining restaurant, Papa Goose on Flinders Lane. Reviews were good, so Nad decided to make reservations there. I had the steak, and we had potatoes and caulifowers for our starters. Then we had dessert of banana toffee and apple pie. This was a costly affair. $70 Aussie. The food was alright, but service wasn't the most excellent. So I didn't think it warrants the price tag it was charging us. But oh well, for the experience I guess.
And I had my Vietnamese beef noodle, Pho as well as Krispy Kremes, and Shanghai dumplings, and ice cream...Urgh...The list goes on.
I also managed to meet up with Ryan who has relocated to Melbourne from Perth. He was in the midst of exams so it was pretty shitty as I got to see him only one miserable time. We me up in the city and caught up at San Churros. And of course we had the Churros for two, with the Dark & Milk chocolate dips.
Perth's weather was crazy when I came. Raining, and it went on raining pretty much the whole weekend, then it culminated into a cyclone and storm the day before I left. It was scary. Trees were uprooted, roofs were torn off their houses, electricity went off. Thank God Rush stayed in the city center which wasn't so badly affected. But amidst all that, I managed to meet up with all my friends; Mark, Rushika & Shari & family. And of course, I ate a lot.
We drove down to Freemantle, Cicerellos where I had my favourite seafood tray and battered barrumandi. Weather was nice that day so we sat out and had our food. Freemantle is one of my favourite places in Perth. Whenever I am in Perth, this is a must go to place for me, and Cicerellos of course.
When we met up with Mark, we had pizzas & stopped for cake at this quirky cafe called Greens & Co. I love this cafe. I didn't know about it when I was studying but discovered it during one of my visits in Perth in 2009. They have the coolest deco ever and the best cakes. Couches strewn all over. Vinyl records. Pool tabel at the back. This whole area was at Leederville which I love.
And of course I had my Nandos, and my dim sum on Northbridge. Perth is not complete if I don't have my Sunday dim sum. The whole gang came down for dim sum. Mark, Rushi, Sharri & family. Her kids are crazy cute. Mikael is turning 4, and Amelia is turning 2. Adorable. Scroll to believe.
I know, you just want to bite their heads off. I know I do. Cuteness!
So yes, I did a lot of eating. It always happens in Australia. I don't really sight see there cos I have been there like a gazillion times so whatever needs to be seen, I have seen. Going back to Australia is mainly to visit my friends and catch up and what better ways to catch up but over good food, cake and coffee right? But it was also great cos I had many alone time for myself. In Melbourne, Nad was busy with her exams, so when we are not out eating or hanging out, I slept in, and watched a lot of tv. Curled up with the blanket over me, drinking hot tea and watching reruns of Sex & the City, Big Bang Theory, & How I met your mother. And latest favourite show? New Girl. The best. Same thing with Perth. I have the whole house to myself in the day as Rush goes off to work. So I wake up, and laze in bed for two hours (In Singapore, I never laze in bed even if I am on holiday. The weather is too hot, and I feel like I am wasting my day away), prepare some food for myself, and leave the house at noon to meet up with my friends. Really such a luxury.
So yes, the hols are over but thank goodness I planned it such that I still have a week of doing nothing before going back to school next week. So this week will be a week of meeting up with my friends here and doing road trips around Singapore! More pictures later on!
