Happy National Day everyone! Ok, I know it's long overdue but better late than never. Im not a very patriotic person so I was more excited about the long weekend and being able to go out than the fact that it was actually National Day.
And I had such a good weekend! Started from Sat where I spent time with the family, doing a bit of shopping and then dinner. I also went to watch Aftershock the movie with Angela. Major sob fest. Highly depressing. Had a 5 dessert platter after the show. Then on Sunday, Godberg and I went to watch the Wild Rice Play 'Boeing Boeing', starring Adrian Pang ad Emma Yong. Hilarious, entertaining and it was barrel of laugh basically.
And he then brought me to a very nice high end Chinese restaurant on Purvis Street called TEN, where they serve very good herbal Chinese food. It was reviewed in the Sunday Times that day and we decided to try it. Healthy. My throat was already getting croaky cos of all the teaching and the herbal food was timely. And it was so YUMMY! We had so much food! Little cute portions but many courses. Check them out...
The set dinner menu that we took.
Eight Treasures Tea, or something like that. Very very nice. Calming
Our appetiser, fried fish skin. A lot of Omega 3. Or something like that. Whatever it is, it's yum. Like keropok
Starter: Abalone. Small but mighty. Not enough for me.
Egg white on a fried potato bowl. They had t use 4 egg whites for just one of this!
Herbal chicken soup. One of my favourite dishes. The chicken was so tender!!
Steamed garoupa with baby kailan and mushrooms. The fish just melts in your mouth. YUM!
Thats me, before I started gorging on the food.
My favourite dish: Fried tofu with mushrooms and scallops embedded within the tofu, and deep fried in egg. I know!! How yum is that right??
And our dessert, pear compote...Very refreshing.
And a coconut pudding...Not bad. But I like my dessert chocolatey though..
And my eating partner! Godberg! He is such a foodie, I swear.
We went to the Marina Bay Sands Resort after that. I've never been there and there have been so much hype about the place, so we took a walk there. It was pretty nice actually. A lot of bright lights, shops...OH! They have a Manolo Blahnik shop there! And I went in! And tried on this gorgeous pair of stilettos! Purple in colour. Stunning! My legs looked endless in them! Cost: $1760. I balked at the price. And walked out sadly. LOL! I cannot buy too expensive shoes cos I use and abuse them. So, I will have to stick to trying them on only for now. :) We then went to the Skypark Hotel and had a drink by the bar there. Think the place was called Fuse or something. There was a jazz singer singing the likes of Barry White and Stevie Wonder, acoustic on the piano. Very nice. Here are the pictures...
The model of the whole place.
At the bar. Yes, I had a latte. Which tasted really bad. Think we were paying more for the ambience than drinks... Oh, and the free wasabe nuts. LOL!!
So, yeah...I had a pretty good weekend. A lot of good food, good company, and good shows. Will be a while before I start eating normally again with Ramadhan being around.
Have a good weekend (YAY! It's the weekend again soon!) and to my Muslim friends, Happy Ramadhan!
