It's Ramadhan! The time of the year when you start fasting. I am what you can consider a liberal Muslim. I pick and choose what I do as Muslim. Which is not the best thing in the world, but I guess most people are selective when it comes to religion. But like what my friend, Foiza, tells me, it's not about symbolism, but about being a good person inside. And I like to think of myself as a good person. Or at least I try to be. But of course, it will be better if you practice properly.

To me properly would mean praying 5 times a day, no drinking, no smoking, no revealing clothes, fasting. I abide by all these except for the praying n revealing clothes part. I don't dress like a tart but I have a tendency to show some skin when it comes to clothes.

And I don't know whether it's because I'm far from home, or whether this year has been enlightening year for me in terms of my connection with God, but I feel a need to fast with a lot of heart this year. Usually, when I fast, I just don't eat and drink and everything else remains constant. This year, however, I feel a need to pray and connect with God cos he has helped me through a lot of tough shit this year, I am cutting down the swearing completely, no gossiping and bitching about people, no cursing and a lot of praying to Him. I have been talking to him everyday before I sleep, but for this month, I feel a need to do more than just talking. So Foiza'a going to write out for me the English translation for the 5 prayers and I intend to do at least the evening prayer. It's a start. Oh..and Im dressing more conservatively. Less legs, less skin. :)

Whatever it is, I have been looking forward to fasting this year. Cleanse myself physically, mentally and spiritually.

Happy Ramadhan everyone!

That's a random picture of me n Rushika on a Sun afternoon at my place. We were completely zoned out from our outing on Sat night so we spent the whole Sun lying down n talking rubbish. :)

It was Anri's birthday on Thursday. So after class, Foiza and I went to Anri's place for dinner. It was a very simple bday celebration. We ordered pide from a Turkish restaurant and noodles from another restaurant, then rented a dvd (Good Luck Chuck) and went to her place. Then we surprised her with a chocolate cake and gave her her presents (a bronzer/ blush and lip gloss) and the darling actually started crying cos she was so touched. Hahaha. Emotional. Guess we are all on our own here, far from friends and family and she thought she was going to spend her bday alone. So we sang her a bday song, cut the cake, ate dinner, and then watched Good Luck Chuck plus eating cake. The cake was good, the movie wasn't. IT IS SO CRUDE!! Cheap humour.

Anyway, happy bday again darling! Love you!

The bday girl, with the cake. Yes, yes. It's a small cake but it's divine.

That's me!

N Foiza.

Did literally nothing during the weekend. Rushika came over on Sat evening, and Ryan picked me and her up from my place to spend the night at his place. What did we do at Ryan's? Nothing. Seriously. But it was hell of a lot of fun. We looked at his poster of the kama sutra sex positions (very intriguing, I must say), talked rubbish, watched two movies (SAW 2- Which we actually didn't watch cos we were talking during the movie and Heartbreak Kid), Ryan read our astological chart (he's a pro at it), ate noodles at 230 am and went up to his room only at 3am. And in his room, we talked about Rushika's horrendous skirt and top (Rush, u know what I'm talking about. In Ryan's words: 'The offensive demons propelling triple silver lining silky blue top and the beyond redemption brown skirt.' Hahahahaha), people with bad fashion sense, and other rubbish. Ryan and I finally went to sleep at 5am. Yes. 5 in the morning. Rushika was weak. She slept by 4am.

Only managed to wake up at 11am, and went to the city to have dim sum with Mark. And after dim sum, they went back to my place to chill for a few more hours. We played music in my room and started imitating the way some of our friends here danced. And it was hilarious cos some of these friends dance like robots or as tho they were doing karate. Rushika does a mean job of imitating them. It was to die for. And she's a lawyer. Imagine. Ryan, Mark and I were dying of nlaughter and we all started doing the robot together. I also pretended to be Donna Summer and danced on my bed to the song 'Hot Stuff' and jumped up and down on Ryan and Rushika who were lying down on my bed. Very fun. :) I was seriously on hyper drive. Talk about letting my hair down. After they both left, I spent the rest of the evening catching up on sleep. The best way to spend my weekend. Doing nothing with people I love. And sleeping cos I have nothing better to do.

And cos there was nothing much to be photographed since we were in our pyjamas the whole time, we took photos in my room after dim sum. :) M mom will probably die when she sees these photos. Mom, it's only pictures. Action only. :)

Rushika and Ryan. After our dancing like lunatics session.

This picture is to make up for the bbq picture when I was standing a gazillion metres away from him.

Rushika and me.

And Mark. He was actually doing work amidst all the noise we were making.

1 more week to fasting. I'm going to gorge this week. Will be having a house party and clubbing next weekend before I start being a good girl and stay home during Ramadhan. :)

I had a very good weekend with my friends. I spent the whole Friday shopping with Anri and Foiza in the city and then Harbourtown. I got a pretty good loot. A 3/4 sleeved knit top, a long skirt which I've been eyeing for months and it finally went on sale, a peasant top, a short black dress and a knitted blue dress. All for only $46. I know! It's so freaking cheap right? Now, I'm just wondering how I'm going to bring all these clothes plus my own clothes back.

Then on Sat, I went to Mirabooka again (the ghetto place) to get halal sausages for the bbq on Sun with Anri, then proceeded to Subiaco to get my weekly supply of groceries and my sweetheart Ryan picked me and Anri up from Subi cos we were carrying tonnes of things. So he picked us up, dropped Anri off, then went to my place. And then Rushika came over as well so Ryan, Rushika and me spent Sat night in my house talking rubbish for a good 4 hrs. It was a lot of fun. Sometimes, it's more fun doing nothing. Seriously. You don't have to dress up, you are in your own place with good friends, and eating junk food (the junk food of the day was fish n chips) and being with your closest friends. Very nice.

And on Sunday, we had a bbq with about 20 people. It was a lot of fun. King's Park is beautiful now. It's sunny but cool. And the grass is fantastic to lay on. And the company was great. We ate a lot, although I was hungry after the bbq cos I didn't have much since I hate bbq-ed food, we took a lot of pictures cos my friends are all cam whores like me (Yes girls, I mean all of you: Anri, Rushika and Foiza), we talked a lot and the guys learnt how to say pervy things in Sri Lankan. Sinhalese to be exact, courtesy of my Sri Lankan friend, Rushika. So Jonathan, my friend from Denmark, went around saying 'Eh..Nangi'..which basically translates to 'Hey, sexy..' Or something like that. And it was hilarious cos he got the perv look down to a T and seeing this white guy acting like an Indian perv was just too hilarious.

Anyway, here are the pictures. Lots of them.

Rushika and me, away from the bbq pit. Hate the smoke from the bbq. Makes me stink of smoke.

D, Anri, Rushika, me and Foiza.

With Marky Mark.

Sheer coincidence that we are all in pink. Makes a really nice picture.

The must have single picture of me.

Ryan, my sweetheart. He was like, 'Kylie! Why are you so far from me??' when he saw the picture. He calles me Kylie for some obscure reason.

Jonathan, the nangi man with Adrian.

My 'talk-rubbish -on- every-Sat-night' gang.

The jerk (Mr 'I didn't hit you') spoiling my picture. That's him at the back.

With the education girls and Adrian.

Must have spastic picture of me and Mark.

Ryan is a big a cam whore as we girls are.

See? He is in all the pictures of the girls. That's Ee Ching whom Rushika is sitting on.

The couple-couple shot. Ryan and me, Jonathan and Anri, Rushika and Ee Ching. AIt was supposed to be a shot without Jonathan but Anri went like, Hey, both u girls have a man with you. I don't! So Jonathan became her man. ANRI! U R MARRIED!

Pretty in pink.

Jonathan went: I love Perth! Hahaha..Of course, with all these girls around him, why wouldn't he?

And of course Ryan had to take a picture with all the girls too. All the girls love him. He is a darling.

With Rozzie this time.

And a picture of the whole group.

It was a very fun weekend. Loved it. I know, it seems like I'm just here to have fun. And I am! :) I spend Tuesdays to Thursdays vegetating either in my room or the library reading . So it's like 3 days of studying and 4 days of fun. I'm going to slog again when I come back to Singapore at the end of the year so I'm going to seriously have major fun while I'm here. It's a well deserved break.

Ok. It's a Wed. So I have to get back to reading my articles again. Bleah!

Been a while since I updated. A lot of drama happening but takes too much energy to blog it down. Spent the last weekendwith Ryan, Rushika, Yee Cheng and Mark. Watched 2 dvds: Superbad (bunch of nerdy teenagers trying to get laid before college- Very juvenile.) and Hostel (Bunch of backpackers who went to Slovakia realised that the hostel they were staying in was a place for hot European women to lure them into getting chopped. Very gory. I spent the whole movie with my head under the covers.) And we had pizza, and fish n chips, and I baked an apple pie (It was an instant pie. No, I didn't make it from scratch.) And we hung out and talked. Only went to sleep about 4 in the morning. Was a lot of fun though, amidst all the drama.

Then I fell sick. Urgh...I have the cold. With scratchy throat and fever. I've been immobile for 3 days. Been staying at home and I've been feeling really guilty cos I have done almost zilch work since I came. So in the midst of trying to get some rest, I've been reading my articles for my thesis. It's a very painful process. I've gone through 14 articles on leadership and mentoring. I've got another 20 or so to go. And that is only the first part of the thesis.

But it has been pretty fun. I only attend school once a week for two hours. So the rest of the time I spend it with my friends. We hang out at each other's place, watching dvds or just gossipping. Or we go out to the city, or to the suburbs. Anri, Foiza and I went to Mirabooka last Tuesday cos they sell halal meat there. So we went, and man, it was the ghettos. Pretty scary. But we got cheap halal meats. Not sre if it was worth the scare though. If not, I just hang out on my own at home, watching the Olympics and doing my readings in front of the tv. Oh, and cook as well. Have tried cooking a few new dishes: Fish in soy sauce. Sweet n sour prawns. Lemak sawi (Spinach in coconut milk). All tasted pretty good. :) Oh, and run. I still run. Weather's good now. Sunny but cool. About 18-20 degrees now.

Going for a bbq this weekend at King's Park with the whole group. So hopefully will have pictures to show then. And hopefully I'll be well the next time I update.

I am back in Perth!! Ok, I've actually been back for almost a week but I've been so busy that I don't have the time to update this blog. I've been out almost everyday since I touched down so today is actually the first day I am doing nothing so I'm going to upload the pictures I took over the weekend.

I went for my first lesson on Thursday, Educational Leadership and I was stressing out cos I missed the first class since I was in Singapore. But it wasn't so bad cos half the class didn't turn up for the first lesson as well as everyone assumed it started later. So that was a relief for me. I know, I'm a nerd. Then we had to pick our presentation topics and this time round, we could do our presentations in groups of two to three instead of individually, so I teamed up with Foiza and Anri. Another relief cos I hate to do work with people I don't know.

Then, on Sat, I had all my friends over at my place for a dinner party and we all went to club after that. It was great seeing everyone again. We ate like pigs, there was so much food. Then, we all dressed up and went in 3 cars to Northbridge. Went to a few pubs/ clubs. First we went to Mustang Bar, a pub with live music. Quite a nice place. Then we went to Brass Monkey but didn't stay for too long cos it was so crowded. And we ended the night at the Mint, a club and danced like crazy there. So many people went this time. Mark, me, Ryan, Rozzie, Fatima, Anri, Foiza, Rushika, Ryan brought a friend, Yee Ching, William, Karthik, Jonathan and D.

But drama unfolded when we were in the club. I can't divulge too much here cos of respect to my friend but to cut a long story short, I got into a major fight with one of the guys in the group. He slapped me on my arm. Can you beat that?? Of course, I was stunned and I just stared at him and asked him, 'Did you just hit me?' And the bugger stammered, 'Mmm..No.' What an idiot right?? I'm like, 'I can't believe you just hit me!' And of course I got hysterical and punched him on his arm, and started shouting at the top of my lungs. And he obviously got frightened cos I was making such a scene and he kept trying to tug at my wrist and apologised profusely, which of cos didn't work and I told him, 'Get your fucking hands off me before I get violent.' It was very dramatic. Of cos, Mark and Ryan found out and Ryan was so sweet and wanted to beat the shit out of the ass but I told Ryan to forget it. Of course, all my friends were like, 'What the f? He hit you? Is he crazy? Like, of all people he decides to hit, he hits Khai???' Dumb mistake. My whole mood was spoiled after that and when we all went home, he stopped over my place, and then pulled me aside and said, 'Khai, are you angry with me?' I just stared at him and said, 'You think?' Then he mumbled, 'Khai, I'm scared.' Damn gay right?? He looked like he was going to cry. Already in the club, when I had relatively calmed down, he sat next to me and looked at me with this puppy eyed look and said, 'I'm sorry for hurting you..bla, bla, bla.' I just looked at him and said, 'Wipe the look off. It doesn't work on me and pissing me off further.' He was obviously taken aback cos he thinks looking sad will make all girls melt. Not me, mister. So anyway, that was Sat, and from Sun till now, he has been smsing me, trying to meet me, trying to catch a movie with me, asking me how my day was. I'm like..Hello??? Are you crazy? Or just in major denial? Deep breaths Khai... Yeah, very dramatic. But aside from that, I had a good time seeing everyone again and dancing. And no, I havent been smsing the ass back cos he's a waste of time and space.

So anyway, here are the pictures that day. :)

The house party.

In my room, goofing around.

Cam whoring with Rushika.

Mark and me, being spaz.

That's the asshole. But his picture is here cos I look good here.
