It has been 5 weeks since I blogged! School has started and we all know what that means for me. Crazy busy, literally living in school, and just trying to keep afloat for the first month at least. And school has been really quiet cos all my babies are gone, which means I dont have company during recess and after school. After school used to be something which I really looked forward to for the past 2 years, where my kids will just hang around after their last lesson, doing work, playing, chatting with me, and basically, just bonding with me. Well, they have all now graduated and are waiting for poly to start. I have a whole group of new students, and the school decided to give me the very very very good kids. I have a knack with the naughtier kids, and getting the good ones is something new for me. They are a good batch of kids, quiet and less naughty. It's just a different ball game altogether now and I guess it's something I have to get used to.

On a positive note, cos I am all alone in school after curriculum time, it basically means I have a lot more time to finish up whatever work I have, and leaving me more time for myself. And one thing which I have been doing on a regular basis is my hot yoga class. I have been doing yoga since 2007, and I love what it does to me. So I decided to cut my membership at California Fitness (It's getting to be more and more rubbish now and I cannot deal with the hard sell that they do) and went yoga gym hunting. And I finally signed on with Pure Yoga, the new yoga gym down Orchard Road. It's costly to be a member there, Im paying double here than what I used to in California Fitness but I figured it was good investment. Enough with the kick boxing, step classes...I decided to just run for my cardio fix and then supplement it with regular hot yoga classes.

And yes, these are some of the things that we do in the very very hot yoga rooms. Before I actually started, I knew it was going to be a tough class. Already, doing yoga in a normal room temperature is hard enough. So imgaine doing your static yoga poases in a 51 degrees room.  And therefore, yes, I was mentally prepared that it was going to be a very very hot and sweltering affair.

But man, nothing prepared me for when I went for the first class. The minute I entered the room, the hot air just hit me and made me feel suffocated! Crazy hot! And I was starting to sweat within the meditation part of the class whcih lasted only 3 mins! When I started the class proper, I was dripping sweat in bucketsful! Insane. But it feels so bloody good. It's like cardio which tones and leans you. Hot yoga is one of the best way to lose weight and be toned at the same time. Exercise usually does one or the other. If you run, you get the cardio but not so much the toning. Yoga on its own helps you with the toning but not losing weight. So hot yoga is a merger of both. And I swear, at the end of a 60mins Hot Hatha class, I am literally panting and soaked  to death. You lose about 600 calories doing an hour of hot yoga, equivalent to doing a 10km run!  And as tiring and draining hot yoga is, when you finish the class, and you are all aching and dying and dehydrated, it is the best feeling in the world. :)

And of course, the most important question is, does it really work? A RESOUNDING 'HELL YES!!' I swear, I have been doing it for just 5 weeks, not even as often as I would like to, maybe just twice a week, and I can feel a lot of difference. My skin is better (think the sweating detoxIfies you), I am definitely a lot stronger and fitter, and most imprtantly, I have seriOusly lost some weight!! My clothes are much looser, and I feel so much better and more confident! Yes!! lol!! Of course, I am not just doing the hot yoga on its own. I still run but not so often now. Just once a week, to get my cardio fix and the heart pumping but seriously, this hot yoga thing works. So if anyone wants to lose weight and be a lean mean machine at the same time, this is the best way to go. :) Im targeting to lose another 2 kg and I will be satisfied! YAY!!
