I've got my grades back for my first presentation last week. I did pretty well. Didn't expect anything more than a credit (The grading system here is as such: High Distinction, Distinction, Credit, Pass, Fail) cos I felt it could have been done better but I got a distinction. Yeah!! 30% of my whole grade cleared. :) At least for this unit.

I had another seminar presentation 2 days ago. I was so nervous. I was presenting on the theme of educational leadership and I had to do a 30 mins presentation where I was supposed to critique this article on ledership and then involve the class in discussion. I showed a clip from the movie Braveheart, the scene where Mel Gibson was giving a speech to the Scottish just before they were going to fight the English. On another note altogether, the movie is AMAZING. I can't believe I haven't watched it before. It's so....inspiring. And Mel is so charismatic. Loved it.

Anyway, I was going to show the clip in the middle of my presentation. So,I introduced the movie like this ...'Mel Gibson plays William Wallace, a 13th century Scottish rebel who was fighting against the opressive English.' Then the whole class started laughing. I was confused. 'What the f was so funny?' , I thought to myself. 'Was my zipper undone or something?'
Till it dawned on me that my professor who was grading me is a freaking Englishman. Oops. And of course, bimbo me, grinned at him sheepishly and added..'But this was many centuries ago. The English are great now.' Which made the class laugh even harder. I was thinking...Geez, give me a spade. Let me dig myself an even bigger hole.

But aside from that, the presentation went pretty well. I hope I do well for this one too. This is another 30% of the whole grade. Cross fingers.

And I got an email from MOE, telling me that I got my promotion! Yup, to a GEO 1A2. It doesn't matter if you don't understand what that means. It just means, more money for me when I come back to work!! I was so happy cos I didn't think I did that great last year but apparently my supts and dd thought otherwise. :) So I'm a happy camper right now. And I'm even happier cos my closest friends all got promoted too! Wendy, Vidhu, Angela and I'm 100% positive K as well. :)

Term break is coming in a week's time. And Nad is coming to visit in May and my family's coming in June...I'm so happy! :)
