And yes! I HAVE GOTTEN MY DRIVING LICENCE!!! Ok, I know some of you are probably rolling your eyes and going...'And......???' It took me many years before getting off my ass to get my licence ok! I signed up to learn when I was 25, then for some reason or another, it just didn't happen. I kept procrastinating, I didn't see an urgency or need to do it, so I just didn't bother working really hard at it. I went for the basic theory course and that was it.

6 years lapsed, and I see all my peers getting their licence, and cars, and I still wasn't bothered. I was saving money to go overseas to do my postgrad, and honestly, I would rather use the money saved to travel. Which I did. A lot of.

Then last year, when I got my appointment at work, and the meetings started dragging till 7pm, and by the time I wanted to go home, I was half dead. And I was thinking to myself,' Man, I would die for a car right now.'And then I found out that my ex students were getting their licence at 18! So I thought to myself, If my boys can do it, why can't I right?

So I made a decision in November last year, and signed up for driving classes. I really put in my heart and soul to learning. I studied hard for the basic theory, going for many mock trials before sitting for the test. Results: Full marks. :) Then I started my driving lessons itself, and honestly speaking, I was really bad in the beginning. My parking was shit; both parallel and vertical parking, my S course and crank course saw me mounting curb like crazy, I was a wreck on the road, and I told myself,'God, what have you gotten yourself into?' But I refused to give up, so after my Spain trip in Dec, I went for classes almost every day. And when the final theory loomed, I went for 4 mock trials before sitting for the test as everyone tells me it is tough and I didn't want to fail it. So I worked really hard for the final theory test and got full marks again! YAY!

I actually finished my actual driving lessons by end Jan, but the test date given to me was only 12 March. So I had 7 weeks to kind of practice my skills. And I went every single week faithfully, rain or shine, sick or healthy, morning or night. It was tiring. But it was worth it cos I PASSED THE TEST WITH 10POINTS ACCUMMULATED ONLY!!!!!Yay!!!

And with this, I am going to buy me a car!!! Yay! I have finally gotten to a stage where I don't have to choose between having a car or travelling. It used to be like that. Cos having a car is such a huge financial commitment that you end up stinging on everything else, and usually travel is the one thing that goes. See, I am not willing to compromise that! So this is a timely period for me as I am able to have both. :)

So, since my bday is coming, I am going to buy myself a very expensive bday gift! A CAR!!!! LOL! These are my options.....

Option 1:

The Volkswagen Beetle. This has been my dream car forever. Only problem: It's damn bloody expensive cos of the insane COE prices now.

Option 2: The Honda Fit. I have been looking at this one since I started learning how to drive. It's compact and cute, and supposedly fuel friendly. And it is a hatchback, which I love.

Option 3: The Toyota Yaris. Nad, my Melbournian friend, drives this car. And she is a very kan chiong spider person so gets very gabrah on the road. So the fact that she swears by this car, and I have sat in her car countless of times, makes this a very good choice!

So I am going car shopping this weekend! Hopefully I will get a car by then! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
