I haven't blogged for a while. Been hard to get access to the internet. Anyway, I just got back from Sydney. I was there for a week. Beautiful city. I'll try and update more on my Sydney trip cos I haven't uploaded my pictures onto my laptop yet. And I'm too lazy to do it now. I'll be back in Perth this Thursday and I'll try to update then. In the meantime, hope everyone's well. I'll be flying again to Singapore next Friday so am looking forward to seeing everyone again. Everyone. I'm going to try and meet every single person as much as possible.

I watched American Gangster yesterday night. I'm usually not a fan of such movies, I'm a fluff movie fan. Romantic comedies, idiotic humour, girl power movies; that's my cup of tea when it comes to movie watching. But cos there was nothing much at the dvd store, and the movie has gotten pretty good reviews, and I saw Denzel talking about the movie on Oprah, and Anjuli swears by the movie, I decided to give it a go.
It is freaking amazing. I'm not really a fan of Denzel Washington but he is an amazing actor. I can see why he's such an acclaimed actor. He was so convincing in his role as the drug mafia, Frank Lucas, that I was actually petrified of him when I was watching the movie. It was set during the Vietnam War and basically, Denzel plays this hard core drug tycoon, who decides to deal directly with the main producer of heroin in Vietnam, hence cutting out the middle man so he gets full on of the profits. And he uses American military planes to ship the heroin over. We are talking about hundreds of kilos of heroin. So he earns a truckload of money from this heroin business selling it all over America. This is pure heroin we are talking about, not some diluted bull shit. And he brings in his whole family to be in the business as well. And Russell Crowe, whom I thought wasn't that great here, is the cop who's trying to bring Denzel down.
It was a very gritty potrayal of America during the Vietnam War period. A lot of drugs, violence, promiscuity, dismal potrayal of the blacks.. A very depressing period to live in, especially if you are in American then.
Excellent movie. Go and watch it if you haven't. Worth 150 mins of sitting on your bum.

I haven't updated for the world's longest time. As everyone who reads this blog probably knows, my family came down to Australia to visit me in Perth 2 Saturdays ago and the whole family went to Melbourne after that. It was nice seeing everyone again. My mom, elder sis and brother in law lost some weight, my little sis still looks the same, and my niece and nephew were still as irritatingly cute as ever. When I went to their hotel to see them on their first day, my niece was scarily shy. But of course that lasted for a whole 5 minutes. Well, I won't bother writing much. Just look at the pictures ok?
I brought them to Subiaco, where we shopped at Good Sammy's (my favourite discount store), went inside the market, where my mom and elder sis went crazy with the honey roasted cashews (I'm supposed to bring back 2kg back in July) and we had coffee, hot chocolate and cake at a cafe in Subi.
My 2 babies. Love them.

Younger sis, mom and me.

They visited my uni, and of course, fell in love with it cos it's gorgeous. We went a bit crazy with the photos here too.

I brought them to Freemantle. We ate fish and chips, shopped at the Freemantle markets and the kids played at the Freemantle field. Very fun.

In the city at night, having hot chocolate. My niece is a spaz.

On their last day in Perth, we went to King's Park.
The view from King's Park.

We went to Melbourne on the 3rd June. I took a different flight from them. I went on a Tiger airways flight. I took the plane first, supposed to reach Melbourne at 5am but cos of the bloody fog in Melbourne, my plane couldn't land and the flight had to be diverted to freaking Adelaide. And I was stuck in Adelaide airport for 10 fucking hours. Can you beat that? So my family, who took the flight 9 hrs later than me, reached Melbourne at 4pm, and I reached Melbourne at 730pm. That is a whole 14 hrs delay. I was so mad.
The view from the apartment we stayed in at St Kilda's.

Flinders Street Station in the city.

We spent 2 days shopping in the city.

On our third day in Melbourne, we took a road trip to Great Oceans Road. Breathtaking views.

And on my family's 2nd last day, we went to Healesville Maze and Sanctuary.

They have all gone home. I'm going to be here till the 3rd of July. I'm having a pretty good time. Met up Sharifah and Nad, shopped a little, had lots of coffee, doughnuts and hot chocolate, hot scones with tea, waking up late, watching dvds. It's really cold here. I have to wear stupid looking woolen socks keep me warm. But it's a good break from the work I've been doing. So I'm not complaining.
I got back 2 of my papers. My professors are fast markers. I got back my papers 6 days after I handed them in. I got high distinctions for both papers. Which was a surprise to me cos one of the papers, my policy paper, was crap. At least that was what I thought. I was telling myself if I could get a credit, I would be happy. Cos policy was such a difficult unit. So I was in shock when I saw the hds on my assignments. But a damn good morale booster. Still waiting for 2 more papers to come in. We'll see how I did for those 2 papers.
